Position Summary: The Bakery Counter Worker provides welcoming hospitality while assisting guests at the bakery counter. This role includes packaging and selling baked goods, operating the point-of-sale (POS) system, answering guest questions, and maintaining an organized and visually appealing bakery display. Depending on operational needs, this role may also assist with basic barista duties such as preparing coffee and espresso beverages and supporting café service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly and provide friendly, attentive service at the bakery counter.
  • Assist guests in selecting bakery items and describe products when needed.
  • Package baked goods carefully for dine-in or takeout service.
  • Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to process orders and payments.
  • Maintain clean and attractive bakery displays and counters.
  • Restock bakery cases and retail shelves as needed.
  • Label and organize bakery items according to quality and freshness standards.
  • Answer guest questions regarding ingredients, flavors, and menu offerings.
  • Assist with basic barista duties such as preparing coffee and espresso beverages when needed.
  • Support café and beverage service during busy periods.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the bakery counter, work surfaces, and equipment.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation standards.

Qualifications

  • Previous bakery, café, or retail food service experience preferred
  • Food handler certification preferred
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts
